Bouncy + Shudder
Hi everyone my 2.0hdi has a couple of problems as you can see from the title. Firstly the front end is soft as it should be but also it some times bottoms out as if like (on a normal car) it has no shock absorbers. Also under braking it can get into a serious brake shudder between about 60-40mph any suggestions. Is this just warped discs as its done 40,000 miles.

Alec, its almost certain that the discs are warped and with the price of replacement being so cheap these days skimming is only really worthwhile if you can do it yourself. When replacing discs make sure you also fit new pads as well.
One of the reasons I've heard that discs warp is that after braking from high speed, should you then keep the footbrake rather than applying the handbrake, then the heat cannot escape from the area of the disc where the brake pad is 'holding' the disc, therby causing the disc to warp.
Seems like a plausible reason, but..... with the handbrake on Xantias working on the front discs you can't win!!!
As far as the bouncing is concerned, have you changed the spheres? It may well be worth checking that the correct ones are fitted.
I have been supplied with all manner of incorrect sphere combinations when visiting a rather well known company near Heathrow. However, I never suffered those problems when they had the head office in Reading where the staff knew what they were talking about......................

As a Reading veteran since 1994...... Let me know if you have any further problems. [:0]

Thanks Jon, now when I visit Heathrow I always try to find out the part number myself and ask for that, rather than be given the wrong part and waste an hour and a half driving over 30 miles again.
Last time, about a month ago I was given a mixture of new and regassed spheres despite asking for new. How does that work? The regassed ones are a different make/price. I do get the impression that the Heathrow staff regard Citroens as something just too wierd to understand.
