XM Teaser
Further to my post on intermittent fault on speedo I have also now noticed that the heater blower is coming on and off at random. I have read that XMs are prone to earth faults, could this be the case, if anyone has any info or come across these symtoms before I would greatly appreciate any pointers to curing the problem Cheers BobKen.

Could you please add in your profile which model/year XM you're running ?
It's quite hard by memory to sort out which cars different members are driving [:I]
Series 2 (late '94 on) production XM models have a fairly standard Citroen fan setup, with the usual power transistor regulator and a full speed relay.
A power feed relay is provided to ease off the fan power from the ignition key switch.
If you have A/C, then things are a bit more complicated ...

Not sure about the fan problem, could be earthing.
As for speedo problem, assuming your XM is series 1, this could be due to the speedo cable being loosely fitted onto the back of the speedometer.
I am still having this problem, the speedo cable male fitting (square piece of plastic at the end of the cable) seems to have shrunk and does not fit tightly into the female fitting at the speedometer.
Series 1 still uses such an ancient cable, I think in series 2 it is fully electronic.
