RNEG MyWay Unit Display

Post by Alastair434 »

Hello, I have a 2010 Peugeot 207 running the RNEG system. I believe it's the RNEG 1 system as there is an SD card slot built into the unit. My issue is that upon buying the vehicle I have tried my best to update the firmware of the head-unit to allow me to change the language and units to English and Miles. Currently the head-unit only displays options in French. The menu's seem to be few and far between with system parameters having the option to display the current version (R50b that I installed myself) and to restore factory defaults... TO spread the butter thin, I've exacerbated my own expertise and I'm reaching out to see if anyone can shed any light on how to get the head-unit to display in English with Miles instead of KM. Might I add that the encoder on the dial seems to be a bit flaky often skipping over options as I turn it (I don't know if this is a common issue but it's one I can live with if it's got no correlation to missing menus)

I'll provide screenshots upon request

I have moved this into a new thread appropriate to the system you are talking about.

You need to press the SETUP button and navigate to the System Language, which should be the first option, then onto the UNITS Sub-menu where you change the time, the temperature units, Miles / KMS etc.

Hi again,

These are the only menu's to choose from inside the SETUP menu. I've also figured out how to enter the hidden menu and couldn't find anything related to Language. I'll keep it brief because I have no idea what could cause those other menu's to be missing.

I will add that even the hidden menu's display in English it's literally just the setup menu that doesn't display in English. But the gauge cluster still displays in KM and I can't interface with the screen with the stalk buttons to check on economy or anything... The button on the indicator stalk also seems to trigger some French voice que that I can't make sense of.

Ok, so this looks like the result of a factory-defaulted unit, has it been replaced or reset using the hidden menu?

In this instance I don't think there's anything you can do except to ask the dealer if they can fix it by downloading the configuration from their servers and check the BSI is set up correctly. I've already checked the RNEG configuration data table and there are NO options for language or units, so something has reset it internally and I can't advise on how to restore the menu options.

Hi Marc, I figured it would require going to the dealer... I've had the car for a week now and I figured it would require a trip to the Peugeot Specialists. I got the car at a reduced price from a none Peugeot dealer with the intention of fixing it myself but clearly more control is required with a specialist. Thanks none-the-less for your amazing advice, it's always nice to get another's opinion! :)

Something is definitely missing - I've seen this before on the RT6 units. Once they go into this mode, certain customer menu options are missing, so you can't change anything on the unit, rendering it nearly useless.

It's something that needs writing to the internals of the unit I suspect to allow those menus to re-appear, so you can change the customer options.

I've got another idea... I've had a look at the Looms for the RD4 head unit and RNEG head unit and they match up pretty much identically.. I had no problem with the RD4 in my previous Peugeot plus it comes with Bluetooth audio streaming and hands free built in, If I could just reuse that because I salvaged it that would be an option for me. obviously the screen wouldn't work but I'd be happy to replace the current screen and facia and would cover the costs by selling the RNEG and screen together... Would this be an option or do head units freak out if the enter a different chassis?

Yes they not only need vehicle VIN coding, but you will need to reconfigure the BSI as RD4 are basic units without telematics systems, so need configuring using Lexia. Also, as the Screen has it's own ECU that too will need configuration - especially as the EMF C screen required for Bluetooth controls the RD4. Most people do the reverse here and upgrade.

Furthermore, beware that basic RD4s do NOT have bluetooth streaming or calling. They either need the 'connecting box' or nomad / hands-free unit as often referred to or secondly the RD45 unit that has the bluetooth unit build in without the need for the separate Hands-free unit.

I would suggest you are careful regarding selling on the RNEG as it won't be much good to anyone in this state, so expect returns costs from potential buyers unless you make it perfectly clear and price it as a non-fully functional unit and make sure you're specific about what doesn't work to cover yourself.
