DS4 2012 Heater Blower fixed!

I have seen a few people that had problems with the actual blower not working, but with everything else seemingly functioning fine, i.e. the fan controls all lighing up, the aircon dials going up and down from "lo" to "hi"
I've had exactly the same problem with my DS4, 2012 DSTYLE HDI (110)
I've spent all weekend stripping it down, testing the blower fan which worked, testing the control unit with the big aluminium heatsink.
Worked out it was a bad ground wire.. I've seen people saying just run a wire direct to the fan and cut out the controller just as a temp fix.
I found out today why mine had gone wrong and it may help others with the same problem.
Behind the glove box is a connector, just 2 wires in it, these supply the control unit with the heatsink, which in turn supply the fan.
The wires going from the plug to the C.U. are fine, a good size, but the ground wire which is in the socket is thinner than it should be, which gets hot it the fan/aircon is used for a lengthy period, which in turn melts the socket slightly making the fitting looser than it should be.. which in turn gives a bad connection and the fan wont run.
I've attached pics of where the plug and socket are behind the glove box, hope it helps someone else with a similar problem.. I replaced the wire with a slightly thicker one and it is all working fine now.

Well, not sure if you are going to see it but after changing the resistor and checked everything and all seems working fine I found you post and voilà, that connector is melted, how you done it to replace the cable, it looks like doing that needs a lot of work

Thank you so much earthrob! My 18 year old daughter bought this lovely DS4 last week, but the blower motor wasn’t blowing… so I set out this morning to sort it out for her. When I took out the blower I knew that somebody had already tried, as the motor brand new. I was going to get a new resistor, but I just happened to find this post and decided to have a look, and there it was! A melted connector!!!

Don’t you absolutely love zero cost repairs?!?!
