MK2 208 Gear Knob Removal

Unread post by Billsy »

Hi all. I have a 2021 208 with a manual gearbox. Does anyone know how to remove the gear knob? I'm trying to remove the centre console to gain access to the airbag module.

Many thanks

I could be wrong on this but I think it's a matter of grasping the knob firmly (oo-err) and then pulling firmly upwards (double oo-err). Be careful not to bash yourself in the face as it suddenly lets go. That's how it's done on the earlier cars and I think the gearbox is the same or similar.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Ok so the gear knob is off but I still cannot remove the top trim panel. The gator is attached to the sliding reverse gear thingy on the gear leaver shaft. I cannot see how the sliding thing comes off. I don't think the gator detatches from the trim panel either, not without breaking something

Ok I've done it. There's ten plastic catches holding the gator into the trim panel. If your careful you can bend them back from the underside just enough to release them. I only snapped one
Thanks for your help Paul
