water in 508 eat6 gearbox :(

Unread post by kabadayitalat »

hi

i have a 2016 bluehdi 508

I had a problem with my gearbox last week. I started having problems shifting gears.

When I checked the engine , I saw that the water container was full of oil. this was atf oil.

My mechanic said the transmission oil cooler was punctured.

When we removed the oil cooler, we saw that water had mixed into the transmission.

I bought 12 lt motul atf6 and we changed it to 3 turns 4/4/4.

I will use the car for 200 km and then we will change it 2 more times (4/4) with 8 lt motul atf6.

Do you have any other advice for me in this situation? What else can I do?

If you've got water in the transmission, it's life is likely to be severely shortened. If it works, keep driving, but be ready to replace it at some point.

Depends.....

IF you have caught it early (that is a guess) then maybe 2 or 3 full changes of oil using a power flush machine -might- flush it fully...........the cost of that is still below replacing a gearbox.

eat6 is working fine now and seems to have no problems. But I know there is some water left in it. I didn't use it like this for a long time. approximately 300 km. When I started having problems with the gears, I checked it. Then we changed the parts and oil. If I find a place that will wash the transmission completely, I will have it done. I understand water can cause big problems.

I used motul atf6. I think this is the right oil. The seller confirmed this. We may have overfilled the eat6 oil level a bit. I think this will not cause any problems.
