Hello everyone, I'm in need of some advice. Lately, my vehicle's transmission has been giving me quite a headache. It's become rather obstinate when it comes to shifting into top gear. It tends to over-rev before eventually, with a reluctant lurch, engaging top gear. I fear I may be approaching the day when "Top Gear" is merely a TV show for me, especially considering the news of its impending conclusion.
I'm currently contemplating the necessity of a transmission repair or a complete replacement. However, I must admit, I'm rather apprehensive about the potential costs, particularly if I were to entrust the task to a Citroen service center.
Have any of you explored alternative avenues? I'm firm in my preference for genuine parts but would greatly appreciate any advice on reducing labor costs.
I currently reside in Reigate, United Kingdom. Could any of you kindly recommend a reputable mechanic in Reigate who specializes in this type of work? This is a substantial investment, and I'm not inclined to make a random choice without a reliable referral.
I'm considering the services of the following:
ASR Gearbox Repairs in Reigate (https://asrgearboxrepairs.co.uk/location/reigate/)
Reigate Motor Company
Ksm Auto Clinic Ltd
Your insights and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Just to confirm is this a standard manual box or a piloted manual (fake automatic) gearbox?
Are all other gears working correctly?
If its just an normal manual gearbox its nothing fancy & most places that do gearbox repairs should be able to deal with it.
