Not as such but it is a good idea, I'll set one up and call it 'Catch All' and maybe An admin can move the last few posts to it for us? :)

Here it is:

Hopefully so, it seems alot of topics/blogs get muddled into conversations which go in a completely different direction, so this is basically a chat room?

Yes, but that's what makes the FCF what it is, I can do without the rigid formality of most fora.

I agree there Mike, but sometimes we do rant on so off topic that the original thread gets lost. As Neil says for example the POTD thread is meant to be basically pictorial with the odd comment, not the sort of ramblings that we have followed over there today!! :-D

 Working in greehouses I was already well versed in glazing, but after the Storm I became very proficient with glass :-D
We used to grow the bedding plants for the council..... that autumn they decided it'd be a very good idea to plant a very mixed display as all the wallflower plants ended up somewhat 'random' :rofl2:

For our northern correspondents, it was probably akin to a light summer breeze  but for us down on the south coast it was very grim. I think they reckoned it was the strongest winds for 250 years - couple that with the rain soaked and soft ground and the fact that 'down here' are (were ?) the most wooded counties in the UK and the trees still had a good covering of leaves.... it was somewhat devastating.
Jim took a photo of the Shoreham lighthouse (that I reposted somewhere), and behind that was the new lifeboat station. I think the original lifeboat house recorded one of - if not the - highest winds of the storm. It was either there or The Needles on the I.O.W. that recorded a high gust then the anemometer got blown away in the winds #-o

Edit. Thanks to Mick's link of the BBC article I can confirm...... "A maximum gust of 115mph was recorded at Shoreham in West Sussex"

I agree, the rigid form is aweful but at the same time I don't think it's a good idea to destroy a topic that people want to post to. I think an area to chat about whatever is probably a good idea so people can continue to discuss something away from the topic and continue the conversations they were having without diluting the original topic. Fortunately you have the Chilterns protecting your area Ryan so the wind speeds will not get up to South Coast levels, a few loose tiles and the odd sapling may suffer but I doubt there will be too much around Hitchin and Letchworth. :)

The existence of this topic raises an interesting philosophical question. Could a thread dedicated to off-topicness go off-topic?
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
