Peugeot 2008 C1135 Steering Angle Calibration Issue

Unread post by LS1020 »

Good afternoon,

I have recently been through the ringer with the clock spring breaking on my Peugeot 2008 1.2 (2018).

The clock spring has been refurbished and reinstalled, sorting the traditional airbag, horn and other COM2000 warning lights.

Since reinstalling the COM2000, I'm having issues with steering angle sensor, specifically kicking up the C1135 fault code. At first I'm pretty sure I was way off with clock spring positioning as the steering was all over the shop whilst trying to recalibrate.

I've pulled it apart again and made sure everything is aligned correctly (which I'm content it is). Initially no C1135 fault code until turning the steering wheel 120 degrees to the right. At this point it kicks up the C1135 fault code. Notably up to full lock left there's no fault code at all.

If I clear the C1135 fault code whilst maintaining the right hand angle of 120 degrees, it happily clears and goes back to reading at 0 before repeating the same fault code again at 120 degrees right on the diag tool (which is actually 240 degrees).

Any insight/suggestions why this is happening and how to resolve it? Using a Snap-On Solus Edge for diag. Not sure if its a diag compatibility issue and I need to try PP2000 or the like.

Thanks

Quite possibly your diagnostic tool. PP2000 won't do either as your vehicle is too late for that. You need Diagbox.

You can't reset the angle of course at anything other than dead ahead as it will trigger the fault again. There's not much more I can suggest, but here is the fault:
Fault Code: C1135
Description of Fault: Steering wheel angle sensor fault. The absolute value of the steering wheel angle is greater than 720°.
Conditions for Fault to clear: The following conditions have to be met:
- After switching the ignition off and then back on
- When driving above 11 km/h (For more than 15 s)
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Cutting of all ESP operations
  • Warning lamp ESP
Symptoms:
  • Lighting of the ESP warning lamp with error message
Suspect Areas:
  • Fitting of the steering wheel angle sensor
  • Alignment of the steering wheel angle sensor
  • Interference
  • Calibration of the steering wheel angle sensor
  • Flywheel angle sensor
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Hi Marc,

Appreciate the response. I'll give Diagbox a punt and see where I go with it. Will report back if I find anything interesting.

Thanks
