EGR valve and sluggish performance

Unread post by Graveney »

I have a 308 GT line 2.0 hdi. It has always felt slow for it's claimed bhp & hesitant to react to throttle inputs. It has been on Diagbox & no faults are shown. I tried blanking the EGR & the car is noticeably livelier & reacts properly to throttle inputs, however MPG is worse. Is this indicative of the EGR valve failing, all tests & calibrations complete in Diagbox, it has also been cleaned. Any ideas on what this is telling me as I am a bit stumped.

We don't condone any permanent blanking of the EGR or crippling of the emissions systems on the Forum, and really can't provide support for this intervention. The EGR can of course become clogged over time despite having a function to help prevent sticking, but the system is designed to work with the EGR operating properly and anything to prevent this will likely lead to other issues as the engine ECU will likely be unhappy at some point. If you suspect the EGR, then a good clean up may be required and then remove any blanking plate.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Hi To answer questions, I don't intend to leave the EGR blanked, it was just a way of fault finding. The EGR has been removed & cleaned. The car has a MAF, it has been replaced with a new OEM one, unplugging the MAF makes the car undriveable. Car is a 2016 DW10FC engine.
