Citroen C5 X7 SRS warning light location

Just had my mot on my 2010 Citroen C5 X7 estate 1.6hdi and my mot tester mentioned to me that the SRS (supplementary restraint system) warning light does not illuminate with the ignition on and it was noted down as an advisory.

After going through the owners manual, it’s become my assumption that my car does not show this light. It only shows passenger airbag light information on the centre display up by the mirror.

Is this the case or have I missed where this is located.

He should NOT have indicated it as an advisory IMO. I suggest you complain and get it removed as it will stay on the record for any prospective future buyer. Quote from the manual:

7.1.6. Supplementary restraint system (SRS)
The SRS MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) should only be failed if it is indicating a system malfunction. A lamp illuminated to indicate the passenger airbag is disabled is not to be regarded as a defect.

Warning messages on dashboard displays are not a defect in their own right, but may assist the tester in determining that the warning lamp is illuminated because a malfunction exists.

Defect Category
(a) An SRS malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) indicates a system malfunction Major

So as long as the airbag light is not permanently illuminated, he should ignore it.

7.1.5. Airbags
This inspection is for all airbags fitted as original equipment other than on Class 3 vehicles.

A passenger airbag that is switched off is not a defect.

Thanks Marc, I understand that if it’s showing then it should be a fail as it’s indicating an airbag failure. However most other cars have an airbag light that comes on with ignition and then goes away after a few seconds once the engine is started. I believe this is what the mot tester was looking for. However I don’t think the C5 X7 had this light on the dash unless I am mistaken.

I need to take the car in for a retest anyway due to a failed rear wheel bearing. I will show the mot tester the manual as it shows there is no such “airbag check” light for these cars I believe…

Yes unlike the ABS / ESP system that comes on briefly and then extinguishes.

These are the dash lamps of which only some will come on and extinguish after a few seconds - but note there are none for the airbag here.

The only time the airbag light comes on is if the passenger airbag has been switched off with the key, and that is also to be ignored as per the MOT guidance above.

Here are the airbag lamps.

When deactivated, the passenger airbag light 'G', lights up.

He needs to remove that advisory and stick to what he's supposed to be testing and not make it up as he goes along.

On my Aircross, the is a very brief display on the instrument panel of an airbag light - but this warning lamp is not shown on the C5 X7 instrument panel as you can see.
