C5 hdi engine and gear box fluids

Hi all, been looking into the correct engine and transmission fluids. When I last did a change I let my local motor factor tell me what to use based on my reg, 5/30 engine oil and 75/80 trans fluid. I did ask if I could go slightly thicker as it’s getting to be a high mileage vehicle now, just coming up 95 thou, they advised me not to go thicker and stick with what they gave me.
I’m currently looking around online and different vendors list different viscosities all based on the reg.
Some are suggesting 5/40 and 10/40 engine oil, and the highest trans fluid I’ve been pointed to is 75/80 and 80/90.
So as I suggested last year a bit thicker than what the motor factor suggested.
What’s everyone else using for 2.0ltr hdi, 2008 diesel c5’s

Don't use anything for the gearbox other than what is recommended. It has been known for the synchromesh gears to fail in other gearbox oil, changing the oil to treacle, and then destroying the rest of the gearbox. This is the oil usually used in PSA manual gearboxes;

You need to be aware that there are several variants of the DW10BTED4 engine with different Euro standards. This, along with the country of operation affects the oil to be used.

Officially, for your vehicle, which is Euro 4 not Euro 5 as it has the 'RHR' engine, means that the recommended engine oil for the UK is:

5W30 B71 2290 (C2) or 5W40 B71 2296 (A3B4)

This is the oil grade and PSA specifications for this engine. So check the oil specifications to see it meets these standards.

As for Gearbox oil, it is TOTAL TRANSMISSION BV SAE 75W80 for this 6 speed manual.
