Belingo mk1 Immobiliser problem

Hello folks,

I have a mk1 Citroen belingo where the cam belt failed. Long story but bought a engine and just ended up fitting head. Engine has been out and hencecECU and battery box unplugged.
I have never used nor seen working the remote central fob for the car but just used the key in lock.

I have finally got it all back together and assembled and when I connected battery the yellow key sign with box illuminated on the dash suggesting immobiliser problem? Anyway it will not start.

I have tried several routines to try and reset it and wondered if anybody knew what I need to do as I can not get it started. I dont really have the money to get a specialist in it if it is critical then I will have to bite the bullet.

Petrol or Diesel?
Have you checked all the fuses?
Disconnecting the Battery or ECU should make no difference no matter how long they are unplugged.
Do you have another key to try?

Sorry it is a 1.9 diesel.

I thought disconnecting and battery going flat etc should not make a difference as well.

I only have the one key with the vehicle and as I said when the guy gave me the car he said the remote central locking did not work and just use the key in the door.

I do not have a manual for the car so do not know where to start on a diagnostic fuse track down etc. I do have the original key code in the owners manual scratched off on the owners card.

I understand that both the transitor for immobiliser and central locking button are separate entities but one reset I was reading suggested i do these ten or so steps in which several included pressing the central locking button on the fob.

Just to confirm you did not change the diesel injection pump did you?
What year is the car? The immo systems ate slightly different around 2000 the Berlingo became multiplexed & has a BSI.
As for the fuses just check ALL of them.
