Xantia HDi Air Con Fault / Wiring Issues / Wing Removal

Today’s project is diagnosing air con issues.

Yesterday, I disconnected and applied power to the air con compressor directly. The clutch is not engaging. Issue Number 1.

Checked voltage on supply relay. 0.6V. Issue Number 2. Resistance of wire between relat was 132.7 kOhms until I started stripping back everything today and now there is NO continuity between them so a broken wire somewhere.

The writing does not seem to match the manual.

I can see the Blue feed wire disappearing into the offside wing behind and above the IC02A brown interconnection that sits slightly behind and lower than the rechauffage unit.

It is supposed to be within 20MOT which comes across the front of the engine and it is so where does it go I wonder?

I have pierced the insulation near to IC60 which is the yellow connector adjacent to and in front of the gearbox / engine interface.

I have continuity there of 0.4 Ohms so I am working back.

Question is how easy is it to remove the nearside wing and what will it reveal if anything?

Wheel arch liner removal would be the obvious choice I guess or maybe I put it all make together until I can safely work on it off the road without cars racing down the road.

Can anyone advise what the 2 pin brown connector under the nearside wheelarch liner is for please? It sits ahead of the front of the liner that drops down in front of the nearside wheel.

Mine has burn marks and the wire colours appear (with the limited access I have lying in the road) to be identical to the wires at the compressor. I should be able to check this again in about a week and get wire numbers if I get on mate’s ramp. Don’t fancy too long under there risking my life.

I cannot assume they are to the compressor as the routing is NOTHING like the factory manual.

I like the idea of "curse control" Jim - do you think it might also help with road rage?
