Xantia doseur valve

Post by Skull »

After recently fixing an unrelated low pressure leak, I kept having to top up the LHM reservoir with no obvious leaks underneath the car .....

3 OCT 23 LHM warning light + 800ml ‘burp’ no leaks
7 OCT 23 LHM warning light + 1.4 ltr ‘burp’ no leaks (Holds 5.4 Ltr)
9 OCT 23 LHM warning light + .350ml ‘burp’ no leaks (light still on ordered more)
12 OCT 23 1.6 ltrs today before ...
Skull's leak
Skull's leak
I finally found a weep above the brake pedal that has been flowing unseen down the internal bulkhead behind the drivers carpet into the footwell .... there must be 3 litres of it under there with no visible sign #-o

Is there a decent thread on the best method of repair/replacing a leaky doseur valve on my Xantia?

I've had a look at various threads but haven't found a relevant one yet....I've depressurised and supported the weight of the pedal which seems to have stopped the flow of the weep.

Is it just part number 95 640 067 that needs replacing ?

No rush as I am struggling physically with busted ribs and I doubt this job is suitable therapy at the moment.

I was gunna say! My first car was a Xsara with clutch cable, I used to avoid hills as it was either on or off and it made my left leg bigger than my right. So.... did you look at Peugeot and thought that looks nice so the Xantia hit you?

I can't remember if there is a thread or not, but it has come up several times. I recall Jim saying that the carpet can soak up an amazing amount of LHM, but it turns the underneath to mush. Malcolm talked about it several times, and reckoned you could do it by unbolting the valve from inside then pulling it back into the engine bay and twisting it round to get at the front end without disconnecting brake pipes - you 'just' need to replace the rubber button and clip. I imagine on either an HDI or Activa turbo pipes will be in the way and hinder access. As I recall no parts are listed for the Xantia, but they are (or used to be!) for the BX, and they're the same parts. I'll check later....

It was mentioned a long time ago that they are available from JCB dealers.

Servicebox does list parts for Xantia - and those parts tally. Both marked NFP however....

Cheers Richard

I found this KIT but the seller isn't accepting messages to verify, lists as suitable for all Xantia engines apart from mine, do you know if the 42mm diameter mentioned is relevant to my car ?

Might take a gamble ....

All BX, XM and Xantia use the same brake valve. A more expensive source of the rubber cap is: https://www.chevronics.co.uk/product/do ... e-cap-gsa/
Another source of an overhaul kit is: https://www.bxparts.eu/fr/kits-de-revis ... antia.html, there are several other stockists.
I think that they are probably still available from the Citroen classic spares program.

I seem to recall that JCB asked the Forum about getting the Doseur refurbished/repaired, as they use them in their Fastrac range.

Cheers all for the links/leads

xantia_v6 I've ordered the kit from BXparts.eu that seems a reasonable price and the postal delay shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully by the time it arrives I'll be a bit more flexible .....

I'll try and get some pictures of the process.
