Xantia fuel door hinge replacement

Unread post by Jo X2 »

Hello,
I may not be here often, but I got something I though could be interesting to some Xantia owners of this forum.

On most Xantia I know of the springs of the original fuel door hinge (is this the correct name for this thing?), part number 96081621, are broken. To be honest, for many years of owning my Xantia I didn't even knew that there were supposed to be springs...
While it's not an important fault, once I knew about it, it started to bother me anyway. Do I even need to mention that it’s not available anymore?

On the German Andre Citroën Club forum some members started a project to reproduce this part using 3D printing. Fast forward some time, I own a 3D printer of my own for a while now and saw some areas that could be improved for print-ability, so I started to design my own version of it. Now that it is finished I thought I share it with you:

I hope you like it and If you see room for improvement or got any recommendations please let me know.

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum or if there is any sub-forum like the Activa section that fits better.

Nice, those plastic springs have been broken on almost every Xantia (6) that I have owned.

It is a pity that I don't have a 3D printer.

But we know someone who does have one!

That's similar to how it all started for me. ;-)
And now its a handy tool, can't tell how many times I use it to print something extremely specialized, that probably nobody else needs, to help me with the job at hand. But if you buy a cheap printer like I did, be prepared to put some work into it. If you spend a bit more then there are machines that should work reliable right out of the box.

Anyway, maybe you can find somebody local that can print it for you, but make sure they use a appropriate material and print settings, otherwise you could end up with unusable parts.

Btw. I uploaded a new revision of the model with some small improvements.
