Citroen C5 x7 EPB

Hi I have an issue with the EPB unit on my X7 Tourer.

I have found a replacement part that says it is for the X7 and also a Peugeot 508, but the part numbers are different, could anyone tell me if the parts are the same and just have a different number for each manufacturer or will the Peugeot part not work.

No, they are NOT the same, despite looking identical and I suspect this is why others that have bought them for their X7 are having constant ESP / Handbrake warning issues (no good for the UK MOT).

The correct Citroen part for the X7 is
(2) Handbrake Mechanism, part: 1612865480, £1,367.29 and requires additionally the closer (73), part: 698343, £0.90p

I suspect that as the EPBs on the C5 X7 were only available for vehicles with Hydractive suspension, the internal hardware / software on the EPB is designed for the C5 X7 and not the Peugeot 508 with conventional suspension. This may be why there are reports of problems with these from aftermarket sellers that claim they are the same when they are not.
