Citroen C5 2004 Mk1 2.2 HDi Suspension and Steering issues PLEASE HELP

Unread post by isham »

Hi all
I wonder if anyone can help me.
I have a Citroen C5 2004 Mk1 2.2 HDi Exclusive Auto
Last week my wife drove my citroen and said the car drove fine, but when I started driving and turned the steering wheel started hearing some noise that looked to be coming from the power steering pump, usually i would have this noise coming but not as loud, and it would normally mean that I had to top up the LDS fluid, and if I didnt it would progressively increase the noise, but this time the noise was loud from the beggining, so I tried to go to a parts shop to buy the fluid and I couldnt find it so drove straight back and parked the car, at the same time the steering was geetting stiffer, and as I was parking the car the steering is completely stiff and no more noise. So according to what I had in mind I had to drop the suspension to the lower position in order to check the fluid level, which I did, and I topped up 1 L of LDS fluid, now the suspension wont go up. So I read some posts and I though that maybe the fluid is still low so I topped up another 3 L which seemed to bring the fluid to its level but tried to raise the suspension and although on the screen shows that the button is working ( shows the image of the car going up and down) the actual car suspension is completely down. even though about putting a jack to remove the wheel to inspect but the car is so low that I cant fit the jack. also as I was topping up the first liter of LDS I saw some drops coming from the steering rack boot.
Tried disconecting the battery overnight but still nothing no steering and suspension completely down, also worth to mention that when i turn of the car i can hear the suspension pump/ motor working but the sound seems much quieter then it used to be.
Can anyone help.
Thank you in advance.

Just a quick update
Basically it eas all due to the lack of fluid. Had to give some time for the power steering pump to take the fluid and get power steering. Then I bled the system by turning the steer on both directions and seems like it released any air pockets on the suspension which made the suspension rise again.
I did manage to find a big leak coming from the power steering rack. Just wonddering if anyone knows the steps to remove it from the car
