I'm away from home at moment in the Sunny (not always) Highlands of Scotland.
About 5 minutes from starting a trip i had an error message "Engine Fault, Repair Needed" pop up and now the service light is on, but the car drives normally.
Now, my style of driving is when going down steep inclines, i slip the gearbox into manual and hold the car back on the gearbox, rather than using the footbrake, as i have experienced brake fade and its not nice! the Property i am staying at is at the top of a very steep incline and i probably held the gear going down.
By driving this way have i gunged up my inlet from crankcase fumes, if so would a sray cleaner help and if this sounds a probable cause, will it get better or worse.?
if cleaner is a possible help, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

No you haven't.
No idea what the issue is though. Likely needs a Lexia.

what a result, seevice light and warning message no longer on, probably after the 5th restart. hopefully error code would have been logged and visible when i get home.

This is absolutely the right way to drive - it shouldn't be 'your style', it should be normal for everyone! It worries me on long descents when the car in front has it's brake lights constantly on (I too have experienced brake fade).Sloppysod wrote: 25 Sep 2023, 09:56 ...

One long steep descent (in Australia) that I travel down several times a year has signs encouraging people driving automatics to do just what you do.
