C3 mkII ABS Module Repairer Recommendations

Hi

The ABS module on my 2010 C3 1.6hdi needs repaired: fault code C1350, dash all lit up (an experienced mechanic has driven the car while plugged in and believes that nothing else could be the cause).

Any recommendations for repairers?

Ok, so there is a technical bulletin for this fault code. The origin is the hydraulic block.

It involves tests in Diagbox and in checking the earth and power supplies.

Specifically:
Power supplies delivered by the double relay, channels 1 and 32 of the blue 47-way connector.
The earth ' grounds on track 47 and track 16 of the blue 47-way connector.

If the feeds are there, then it means replacement of the hydraulic block.

(1) Hydraulic Block (part to be configured), Part: 4541RP, £1686.17
(2) ABS / ESP ECU (part to be configured), part: 4542Y6, £1130.71

I think Part (1) is the complete Block and ECU - but best to check.

I'm almost 100% certain it is given the price and that it wouldn't need to be configured if it was the hydraulic block alone as there's nothing to configure in that - just the ECU which can be obtained separately. But if you want to be 100%, check with your local dealer by giving them the part number.

The feeds were there.

I sent the complete Block and ECU to a reputable repair company who have good reviews. They said they were able to clear the fault (I assume this is fault code C1350 which the car was showing) but were unable to replicate it. They also said they put it through extensive tests and are happy that there is no fault with the pump. I paid them for testing and shipping and now have the unit back (it has not been refitted to the car yet).

If anyone has any thoughts please share them.

There is a test that involves the checking with this fault code and the ABS warning on this vehicle with the TEVES MK60# ABS / ESP module fitted.

The power supplies delivered by the double relay, channels 1 and 32 of the blue 47-way connector.
The earths on track 47 and track 16 of the blue 47-way connector.

If these check out OK, then the hydraulic block needs replacing. If they do not check out then investigate the connections.

So checks are needed with it fitted on the vehicle for the tests to mean anything. Let us know the outcome.

The tests were done before the Block and ECU were taken off.

Yes it checked out ok.

Given that nothing has been repaired, surely the fault would just recur if the Block and ECU were refitted.

The TSB says that if the connections check out OK and there are no faults with supply and ground on the specified pins, then they state to replace the hydraulic block with this fault code present. I can only go by what the dealer's info says in this situation of course.

Beware that when you refit the abs unit and come to bleed the brakes, it will need a diagnostic, just pumping the pedal does not work.

What are the tests in Diagbox?

They are not specified as the diagnostic tool is used in internet-connected mode as a guided procedure, but uses a terminal box to test - but if the wiring connections and test check out ok, the intervention is a replacement hydraulic block.

My problem is that the hydraulic block has been tested by a reputable repairer and no faults found.

A relay in the body control module has been suggested as a possible cause of the problem. Any thoughts?
