Park sensors issue in C5 x7 and language issue

Unread post by gottik »

Hello everyone,

I have a Citroen C5 from 2012, the 2.0 model, and recently I performed a factory reset on my media system (myWay model). However, after the reset, I noticed that the Park sensors no longer appear on the screen.

Unfortunately, my car doesn't have a button to enable or disable these sensors, but they used to show up on the multimedia screen before the factory reset. Now, I only get sound alerts when I'm in reverse.

I tried to do some research, and it seems that I may need to re-enable the sensors using diagbox. However, the problem is that nobody in my town has diagbox except for the Citroen authorized service, and they want to charge me 80-100 euros for the service.

This got me thinking – instead of paying for the sensors to be re-enabled, why not purchase a Chinese Android unit and install it in my car along with a rear camera? The challenge is finding a good 7-inch multimedia unit that fits in the same space as the old screen. I found one on AliExpress here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004 ... 4itemAdapt

The seller sent me this image and mentioned that if the size matches, it should work:

So, my question is, has anyone ever installed an Android head unit like this in their Citroen C5, and does it fit properly in the space of the old 7-inch screen?

Beside that my car doesn't save language change, its stuck on French. When i change from wheel control to English its would stay for 2-3 min and back to French... I can think only that is issue with ECU

Is this the MyWay (RNEG) that has an SD Card slot on the front or the eMyWay (RT6) that does not?

Have you installed firmware recently?
This is the sort of thing that can happen after a firmware update on an RT6.

As for an Android replacement - not as far as I am aware they are too big to go into the space and are not designed to be bolted into the fascia like your existing screen, so no.

It will be one of 2 things - either the unit has lost its configuration as a result of the update (rare), or the unit is starting to fail and updating the firmware has made the flash memory on board the motherboard corrupt. I am only aware of the RT6 systems going into factory default mode which requires a dealer download to the ECU to restore settings in most cases.

But as for the MyWay, I'm not aware of any issues caused by firmware updates regarding settings. Even with a factory reset, that will only default all your custom sound settings and options back to defaults and erase your personal phone lists and contact data lists from memory, and restore personal settings back to defaults. But it won't remove parking sensor configuration. Your parking assistance equipment will be working fine so long as there is no fault message being shown - but it will be that the Head Unit has an issue or is not configured correctly as a result of either the firmware or a hardware fault on the board.

I did update after the issue happened not before the issue. And reason i try to restore to factory settings was because was not saving language change
