Citroen Relay 2017 - How to replace front wheel hub

Unread post by HedleyP »

Hi,

While trying to remove a very stubborn front nearside brake disk and after many hours of hitting, spraying and heating, I have very stupidly cut into the hub on my 2017 Relay 35 and need to replace it.

I'm new to the Relay having recently moved from the world of old Land Rovers and don't have any manuals or part lists or anything and absolutely no idea of how to proceed. Haynes manuals online are now a useless list of generic instructions and images and I'm stuck.

The hub needs to come off and be replaced. Can anyone please advise how I go about this, what I need and where I can find some diagrams & torque settings.

Much appreciated.

Thank you.

Not sure if you plan to just replace with a 2nd hand unit or not? if you are thinking about trying to just swap the actual hub flange over you will need a new wheel bearing and a very heavy duty hydraulic press. probably bigger than most average garages would have.
Second tip i can offer is dont try to split the ball joint from the wishbone, instead undo the bolts holding it into the hub. You will also need a big socket for the driveshaft nut, cant now remember the size off hand but its over 50 - 60mm
apart from that its a pretty standard replacement. Remove the brake calliper from the hub & support out the way, remove the driveshaft hub nut, disconnect the ball joint from the hub, disconnect steering track rod, remove abs sensor. undo & remove pinch bold clamping hub to strut.
