403 shifter on the floor?

Unread post by abruno17 »

Alright I know this has been asked to death but…has anyone converted a 403 to a floor shifter? Before anyone tells me the virtues of column shifters, I just want to know can it be done, how it is done, and if there were any period conversions done back in the 50’s/60’s. And before anyone says anything yes I’m aware about the kits for the 404, but I want to know about the 403, Colombo’s car.

I have knowledge of early Peugeot gearboxes, but if faced with this challenge, my first question would be: Did any period vehicles (Car or commercial) use the same engine with a floor shift transmission?

I`ve had 403`s and 404`s and found the column shift really nice. Why bother? Anyway The best guy to give you any info is Dean Hunter of www.peugeotparts.co.uk he is an old Peugeot boffin. Trouble is he is in the UK.
