Parking assist fault

Hi have a 2013 berlingo van b9 enterprise 1.6 75hp when I put in reverse I get a message parking assist fault. If I take it out of reverse and put in reverse again it just bleeps and no fault any idears thanks

Obviously there is an intermittent issue - most likely with one or more of the sensors. A diagnostic with Diagbox will be able to tell you which one(s).

The problem will likely get worse. When the system detects a fault, it shuts the system down until next time you select reverse, where it self-checks and either works or doesn't - repeat....

Thanks it used to come on all the time when I started van I cleaned all the sensors and wiring and it only comes on now when i put in reverse

Yes, putting it in reverse means the parking assistance ECU tests the system - any fault and it shuts off. The sensors are very sensitive, but can also suffer from water ingress running in via the cable into the sensor and causing issues. I had 3 go which had to be replaced on my C5. The relocated the loom so any water picked up ran DOWN the cable and not from above and onto the back of the sensor where it is connected.

I found sensor what are on van valio 632205 their 14 quid each so if I brought 4 of them and screw them in the fault should go

Be wary that sensors are different for different vehicles and from different build dates.

If it’s the sensor itself yes, but you really need it diagnosing first so a) you know it is a sensor (it may be the ECU) and b) if it is a sensor, which ones are faulty.

Just ordered 2 will see how I go will let you know. Was playing with them one keeps going off all the time unplugged it and their quite so think it could be that one playing up thanks for your help

This is gunna be a stupid question but I like asking those. Are the sensors clean before you start and drive off? I've had similar issues were it would detect a raindrop on reverse on start up. So I've shut down, wiped it, started engine, reverse, no issue.

That's why I suggested a diagnostic - as either the sensors are the incorrect type or it isn't the sensors that are the issue.

For a diagnostic yes, you would need a Lexia kit ideally.

Sensors don't need programming, but this will run a global diagnostic and advise you of the fault codes. You can then post them up here.
