Sorry I forgot to mention... I've already done that a few times too...

But thanks for the suggestion :)

Gosh, hope all soon comes good after all that hard work Chris...

I really enjoyed reading all about it and was devastated to see we have no happy ending - just yet... All best for that happy ending very soon ;)

I hope so too Jim :-D

Completely baffles me why it's being so naughty.

One of the strangest things is that the level has not dropped in the header tank, which surely must be due to an airlock of some kind. I wonder if it might help for me to use my compressor to apply a greater pressure to the header tank. I also thinking I thread a long tube with the engine off) into the header tank, and see if it goes down and finds an air pocket it can release?

Using a compressor might be just too much Chris. I'd suggest a bicycle pump...

Check the front height corrector they sometimes fail and sometimes even just green corrosion on the connector can mess them up.

Thanks Gibbo - appreciate the advice.

I replaced the height corrector with a brand new sensor a couple of months ago, so I am hoping the sensor itself is OK. However I do wonder if it has become loose. I may not have tightened it properly I suppose...

Presenting the Citroen DS5?

So following the purchase of Lindsey's new DS5, I was pretty clueless what it was like. I had seen the beauty of it's bodyshell, and the suave stylish interior, but only Lindsey had driven it.

Thankfully that injustice has been addressed now :) but I have to say my initial bout of raging jealousy has certainly calmed as a result 8-[ .

From first impressions, the car is a billion times more appealing that my C5. The interior is spacious, all of the switchgear is well thought out, and it feels like a fancy concept car; despite being over 10 years old. It exudes quality, and I'd say the Germans could learn a lot from whoever designed this interior  .

CUP HOLDERS!.... #-o how on earth can this still be an issue after the C5?! - The DS5 has completely useless cupholder "pocket" areas in the doors, but your drink topples over at the first bump. So you may as well say the DS5 has no front cup holders.

Pretty poor in a family car!

I love the dash, I love all the buttons, I have no problem figuring out how everything works. Yeah it is a bit quirky in places, but every car is. There will obviously be people moaning about it being complicated, because it's different, but anyone with half a brain can figure it out, and once you are used to it you know what to press and twist without thinking about it.

The Audio system? - Yeah that's pretty pants. Less Bass than my C5, and I do wonder if it has been blown by a previous owner? The front speakers are nice and clear, but the backs are very tinny, I wonder if there are extra speakers in the back that have been blown? Does seem unlikely to have happened on both sides, but it's possible.

...the ride...

Oh my spotty giddy Giraffe. It's bad... very bad...

You feel every little bump, every white line, it is worse than my mothers 15 year old base spec Ford Fiesta. Citroen should hang their heads in shame, the car rides like a go kart. I would hate to have to drive it every day, as it crashes everywhere, and it puzzles me why as the suspension sits pretty high, and it's hardly a sports car. :-k

So despite my drooling over the svelte appearance of the DS5 when Lindsey first got it... I have absolutely no jealousy at all any more. She can keep it... in fact I feel a little guilty I suggested it in the first place

If any other forum members think of buying one of these, my advice is try it first. From what I have heard about comfy Citroens of yesteryear, this DS5 would be a big let down!

I test drove one a few years ago and I would endorse everything you have said there Chris, plus I found the rear visibility was restricted compared to the C5 I was driving at the time. It was a definite no no for me which was a contributing factor to my decision to abandon Citroen and buy the Legacy!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

You need to drive a well sorted CX, GS, XM or BX Chris, to appreciate the true Citroen magic carpet :) And not forgetting the best of all, the original DS...

Shame about the DS5 :( I wouldn't say my C3 Supervan rides wonderfully. My AX knocks spots off of it...

Good news!

The C5 suspension is working again!

The fluid level had dropped after all, it just looked like it hadn't. Very odd as it looks like the fluid is sitting bang on between the two indicators, but actually when you add more fluid the level doesn't move, as the new fluid drains through - I added FIVE more litres!

After that it just needed a bit of patience. The front started working little by little, with me doing the slow turn from one lock to another inbetween.

Now its back where it should be! :)

Oh I am so happy!

Congratulations - you really are getting the hang of this DIY stuff! I'm a little bit jealous - definitely would like a C5 - but would have to be a wagon (like yours), and very few made their way over here. Besides - already got enough cars to tinker with.

Here's a photo to make you jealous :)

Excellent news Chris :D If you can come along to one of our Citroen Car Club rallies in 2024 I'm sure you'll get to sample the ride in a proper Citroen :)

And anyway, it'll be brilliant to see you :D
