C5 X7 cam belt

Unread post by c16rkc »

I have just bought a Citroen 2008 C5 X7 with no sign of a replacement CAM belt in the history, so I want to get it sorted out ASAP.

I have been quoted £550 by a Citroen specialist, which I thought was quite expensive; does this sound reasonable?

Depends, if its a full timing belt kit with tensioners inc water pump & coolant change i’d say it sounds pretty reasonable.

Considering the complete original timing kit including belt, tensioner rollers & coolant pump are about £350 for the original parts and about £160 for cheaper approved parts alone without labour, then yes, very reasonable!

Well it depends if that price includes the tensioners etc or just the belt.

Our Citroen dealer has fixed prices for timing belt £549 for genuine Citroen parts or £450 for 'approved' parts.
I paid £350 the last one I had done at the same dealership.

Interesting, so dealers charge no more than a specialist garage.

Sadly our local Citroen dealership closed down a few years back. I think the nearest one is 40 miles away now.

Now £575 and £455 respectively, as of posting and that includes the water pump.
