Diag 7.57

Unread post by moizeau »

Quickie, just had a call from a mate with a 5 yo Citroen something petrol, dash board has just gone Xmas lights. 4 issues ABS, anti reverse, anti wheelspin and something else. He's tried the garages but they're busy or on holiday.
The question is will my 7.57 talk to his car to get the real codes. I realise it's a bit too new to be able to anything else.
Cheers

I would be inclined to try a BSi reset first.

What year is the vehicle model and year Pete - if it is anything over 2015 / 2016 than unlikely.

Lights on the dash going like a Christmas tree can mean a duff car battery - seen it happen loads of times on several Citroens. Instrument panel needles going up and down, dash and warning lights and clicking noises - car battery was knackered each time.

Definitely do a battery reset first, probably a dead battery as everything goes beep beep and tick tick when it's a dead battery. I've had four dead batteries in my ownership of my C8 due to lack of use. As soon as it does Xmas lights, battery is on charge.

Cheers, 5 yo so about 2018. I have already told him the battery is a good start, presuming the BSI reset still works on newer cars. Just wondered if my kit would even get the codes, find out tomorrow, cheers again

It'll probably choke on a few of the ECUs as my 7.58 system does on our 2015 308. In particular it can't identify exactly which engine ECU is fitted but as I know what ECU is there I can choose that from the list presented.

That won't cut it on a 2018, as the likelihood is that there will be updated hardware (ESP ECU may be a later version for example), so 7.57 will not have the requisite files to work with later systems.

Well, plugged it in today and couldn't even get it see the car or recognise the VIN so couldn't get any codes. The battery was showing 12.7V and terminals were clean. Did a BSI reset and the same faults came up. ABS, anti wheelspin and auto handbrake (anti recul). He's booked at Citroen Tuesday so the actual fault should be found.

Is your kit full chip Rev C? Where did you get it from?

I'd have loved to try my 7.58 Easydiagnostics Diagbox on the vehicle. We passed through Chatillon-sur-Indre, Chatearoux and La Chatre on our way down through France this time but unfortunately, although we're going back to the UK at the weekend, we're travelling up the east side of country.

Yep, full chip from East Diag. You passed within 10 km of me. Did you go La Chatre towards Gueret?

No, we were heading for Montluçon where I had a hotel ready booked.
