DS7 Rear Shocks are done

Unread post by Bill »

Hi All,
I have had my DS7 Ultra Prestige since 2018 and have been through many of the usual recall and issues. Current mileage is @63K
My rear suspension has been dealt with twice regarding the bushes of which the car spent 3 months in the garage waiting for parts.
A recent MOT stated that my "Rear Suspension not providing effective dampening". I had already noticed a slightly softer ride and has now become quite a bit worse and now driving constantly in Sport mode to try and alleviate the problem!
Has anyone else had to replace their suspension shocks yet?

i have just been out to test mine on a 2019 @ 45k km and they are slightly softer (more 2nd bounce) than they would be on a car with fixed suspension. Also had rear suspension arms replaced. The DS7 has active suspension so that may change everything. I then went out and stated the car and the suspension was exactly the same but maybe active suspension doesn't kick in till you are moving. Needs a comment from someone who knows, Marc?

They just have springs and dampers like any normal vehicle (see below), but there is a base damping and a variable damping version (active scan suspension option) with AMVAR. Nothing too complicated, but there are body height sensors and a small ECU. Basically the camera looks ahead at the road on the active scan version and uses this info and that of the 4 height sensors and 3 accelerometers to make small adjustments in the damping.

I suspect as these are like most other springs and dampers with some modifications on specific versions, that they can just wear out like any other damper and spring that needs replacing after time.
