Wobbly door handle (Expert/Dispatch/Proace)

Unread post by tmead »

Our sliding door handle has been wobbly for a while, and gave me quite a surprise when it pulled out of the door in my hand! Turns out theres a 'wear strip' on the end of the handle that has come off. I dont know where is has gone. Probably down into the bottom of the door. It looks like it slides onto a kind of dovetail on the end of the hande.

The handle part is only availble as a complete piece, and the dovetail thing isnt listed separately. I bought a replacement dispatch handle, and when it arrived it was also missing the wear strip.
I had a random thought and held it up against our 308 - it looked like a match ! Pug 308 handles are cheaper than expert/dispatch, so for a further tenner I now have one of those. It was a great match, although I cant get the wear strip off. However, turns out that the coloured outer cover can be unclipped from the structural part inside.

For reference, the handle is removed by loosening the T20 screw in the end of the door by a turn or so, and then wiggle the rectangular block out. That gives enough space to slide the handle across and pull it out.
