Wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar with their 1.2 puretech engine...
Initially engine management light has come on and the car developed a misfire & was running awful. Fault code showing as issue in cylinder 3. All spark plugs & coilpacks swapped out. Car was fine for a couple days then the same issue occured again.
Its been back to the garage & the valves were found to be caked in carbon deposits. 2 were cleaned up & the 3rd in cylinder 3 was replaced. Again the car ran fine for a few days then the same issue happened again with the engine management light and the misfiring back. It comes & goes though, if you turn the car off & on a few times the issue will go away & the car drives normally.
I know there has been issues with this engine, especially the wet timing belt but struggling to find any other experiences like mines on here or online. Wondered if anyone else experienced something similar and if so what was the issue & how was it fixed? As things stand I'm being told it's possibly a whole new engine required which obviously isnt cheap but the cars only done 35k miles, 3 1/2 years old & been serviced as per the service manual so doesn't seem right at all.

The correct oil specification and grade is critical in these engines and regular replacement of the engine oil at probably less than the recommended intervals. These engines run fast and hot having only 3 cylinders.

It would be worth doing a compression test, to check that there is no mechanical issue affecting that cylinder.

Hi Rachel
I am experiecening what seems like exactlly the same problem with my c5 Aircross, extended warranty are refusing to pay as they cant identify a damaged component , did you get to the bottom of your issue?? I am currently rasing this with Citroen as I dont think its fair that a full mainndealer serviced 3years and 3 moth old car should afil after 32000miles.
