Citroen C1, mk2, 1.2 litre Puretech Reversing Camera Stopped Working.

We have a 2015 (65 Reg) Citroen C1, mk 2 ,1.2 litre Puretech flair. Got into the car a few days ago and noticed when put into reverse the rear camera does not come on. I checked the camera and there is no damage to unit. I’ve removed rear bumper off C1 and disconnected camera. Tried putting it into reverse , no camera working on screen . Connected up a salvaged camera which I’ve seen working. Still no camera when put into reverse. Took apart centre console to get to cable connections at back of screen . The reverse camera connector is firmly pushed in to the Dash screen. Has the Camera got a fuse protecting it ? If anyone knows in which fuse box ( under dash or Engine Compartment ) and what fuse number protects the camera any infomation would be helpful. Also what other devices is the camera connected to. I know my reversing lights work fine. Where does the camera connection go from the screen back to where, Thanks Ian

Hard to say as these are basically Toyota Aygos. Many components are not Citroen. As far as I can see, as there are no parking sensors on these vehicle and only having the camera, there is no parking assistance ECU, so that rules that out. So it may be the Head Unit software that is playing up or the connection from the camera to the Head Unit.

Looks pretty basic. Camera connects direct to head unit. It does go via connector IC91A so that might be worth a look.
Might be worth checking the signal from the reverse light switch at pin 2 of the 28 way white connector on the head unit.

Wheeler, Thanks for your reply. The problem I have is finding a decent wiring diagram for the 2016 Citroen C1 mk 2. I’ve brought two supposed genuine workshop manuals for my daughters car and it’s basically a earlier C1 that had no reversing camera. The online web sites say it’s for a 2016 Citroen C1 then in the workshop Manual you see pictures of the earlier type body and no 1.2 litre Engine . Your information you have given me is a great help, Thank you. If you know of a good website that has a genuine C1, mk 2 1.2 litre Puretech 2016 workshop manual for sale could you point me in the righ location please. All the best

Apart from Haynes (if they do one) you'll be hard pressed to get one - they're specialist material and not really cost effective to produce for all vehicle types.

GiveMeABreak, Unfortunately Haynes are too busy on creating Manuals For Man and the USS Enterprise. I contacted them just over 3 years ago asking them if they were releasing a new manual for the Citroen C1 mk 2, with the 1.2 litre Pure-tech Engine and their reply was not enough C1s and like for like cars were being used to justify putting out a new manual. I don’t think many people would buy a workshop manual for the Star Ship Enterprise , anyway I think Scotty has the mechanical side of USS Enterprise in order. I’ve contacted them for other manuals too, The Citroen C3, mk4 1.2 pure tech engine and my latest car The C5 Aircross Mk3 1.6 Hybrid. Haynes are not bothered anymore in supplying manuals for DIY maintenance anymore.

That's very true - it's not really cost effective for them as cars are getting more 'plug and replace' now - very little 'mechanicing' going on. On top of that the cars are being replaced and facelifted more than they ever have been, so by the time they get one, strip it and work it all out and document it, there's already been a new replacement and so it goes on. Take the Citroen C5 - that had a good run, but took years for them to release and they just squeezed the MK II facelift in as a supplement at the end - but that vehicle had a run of 6+ years before the entirely different MK III came out. The other issue is the engines are changing and even the C5 I mentioned earlier was missing loads of engine options - which wasn't much help.

Then the MK III C5 had new engines within a few years of release and some were dropped entirely.

Anyway it won't matter soon, as we're all slowly being forced off the roads anyway!

Very True There. The C1 has now been Discontinued and the C3 I believe from 2026 are being converted to a electric vehicle with the C3 Aircross, The C5 Aircross and The C5X to follow by 2030. Around UK they have converted London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and many more City centres to Ultra low emission zones. In last week London has now extended Low emission zone to whole of London inside M25. Birmigham are thinking of extending their emission zone, I’m dreading this if they do as I live just on border to outer Birmingham and do have a Discovery 3, 2.7TDV6.

It's a total money-making scam IMO and has little or nothing to do with clean air. Thankfully we live nearly a 100 miles away from the nearest city. Instead we have to contend with the loony blanket 20MPH zones Drakeford and his cronies are implementing here. Utterly ridiculous.

Same in Monmouth Marc, all the town has gone to 20mph, even my Zoe struggles to keep down to it.

My Cruise control only works from 30 MPH, so like most people we are now going to be spending all our time looking at the speedo and not the road. Which genius thought that one up > clearly not a bloody driver. Wait for the accident rates to start going up....

But it's like the ULEZ in London - keep asking them to re-do the science until you get the report to show what you want to justify your plans.

Any fixes as of yet, reversed yesterday and got a blank screen.
