X7 C5 2.0 hdi estate cut out pulling into drive

Post by Shea89 »

Hi

I've have a 2008 2.0 HDI C5 estate VTR+ just turned into the drive and car cut out and immediately threw an anti pollution message on the display quickly followed by a low oil pressure warning. Checked the oil and it's at the max (checked straight after cut out when oil was warm). I have generic OBD reader but it's burried in the middle of a moving van at the moment (moving house), will get it out at the weekend. Any ideas or things to check? I'm thinking the the messages that were thrown might just have been because the engine stopped suddenly? One thing to add is that in my old house the drive was at a steep angle and the car would be parked perpendicular to the drive, if I left it for a week I'd get a low oil pressure warning but would disappear after being on the flat for a while.

Thanks!

Thanks, yeah I'll get the scanner on it at over the weekend but it's just a generic scanner which don't seem to get much love on here. So I might need to take it to the citroen dealership near me.

One development is that the car is cutting out on sharp turns, by keeping it smooth you can drive around this issue, to me it feels like some electrical wire grounding or perhaps ground wires are loose.

A development on this, around 2 days after the first cut out the window wipers started going crazy and have now completely stopped working.

Checked battery on the multimeter it was 12.75 volts, checked wiper fuse and it has not blown

I would be inclined to run a BSi reset. While this will not resolve actual problems it normally clears glitches.

I would agree with James, seems some electric gremlins have got in, reset would be a good start.

Thanks folks,

I tried a BSI reset after I checked the fuse, didn't seem to do anything. A couple of questions on that though:
Do I need to turn on the side lights when performing a reset? (car is a manual)
Once window is down do I need to lock the car before disconnecting the battery?
Is the car bonnet left open during the whole procedure?

Thanks,
Shea.

Yeah do as that chap does in the bsi reset youtube video.
Dont help with an electric pump though , 60 quid on ebay swap it out if in doubt ... swap it out . Then your see if that was the problem if not return it money back , worth a try.
