Esp light

Unread post by Jabba53 »

Hi all. Trying to gain as much help and knowledge towards a recent issue that has been a pain in the a** for weeks now.

It all started a month or so ago. The hose going from the water pump to thermostat housing under the inlet manifold had been leaking for a while, constant top ups until eventually it blew and left the car stranded at the roadside. AA man came and trailered the car by the front wheels to the local f1 garage where they proceeded to rob me blind. After a water pump and the hose replaced with the inlet manifold having to be removed to do this, the coolant issue was repaired however upon collecting the car the especially light was illuminated, pressing the button did nothing. The code was definitely not there when dropped off and given the level of disassembly that went on refused to accept any responsibility for it. I also noticed a few badges where they'd broken vacuum pipes and some connectors too.

We move on to trying to diagnose the problem, my autel is not one of the basic ones and comes up with a few diffrent errors, however I'm guessing it's not enough and a lexia will be required?
U1221 lost communications with the electric power steering ecu
C1135 steering wheel angle sensor signal fault

I can erase the faults and this is where it gets weird. Start the car no error, turn full lock to the right no error. As soon as it does one full rotation to the left the error flags up. We've checked underneath to see if anything suspension related was causing it but nothing.
Anyone got any suggestions? The steering After the full left rotation feels like there is a couple of degrees of stickiness or lightness, not sure how to describe it. I was able to test the power steering motor with the engine off and ignition on in one of the autel functions and it was smooth all the way around left and right.
Any help would be most appreciated as I'm considering setting the car on fire at this rate!
Thanks,
Jacob

I guess this is a petrol vti engine. I have read esp apparent faults could be a battery low voltage so something to check, below about 12.5 volts before starting the engine first thing on a morning and it needs a charge.
