Puegeot 308 SW 2015 1.6 hdi - Jacking & axel stand points

Unread post by chaomienvan »

Please help!

Considering doing oil change by myself, got hit by 1st problem, jacking point.

I understand the there is one jacking point stated in manual, but I need another point for axel stand. (front of car)

the picture attached shows the correct jacking poing - U shape brace with o ring. However, I do need another point to either jack up the car or put the axle stand in position. Help please.

Kind regards....

Jacking a car up from one side is not ideal for draining the oil, far better to treat yourself to a pair of ramps and thus keep the car level from side to side although it may be leaning back a touch. That often helps if the drain plug is towards the rear. It also is much safer as there is no need to trust axle stands while under the car. Make sure you fit a new sump plug washer as they are notorious for leaking if re-used. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

If gunna Jack and Stand, look for the engine mount points. Usually lots of bolts there to show it's load bearing. Don't forget wood etc incase the stands fail. You'll need to jack and stand both sides. Please don't forget the wood/tyre as a fail safe

Thank you for the support!

Can I be bit annoying of asking if anyone got a underbody picture with label to show where is the strongest point to put the axle stand. I am afraid I might mis-taken other bolts rather than engine mount bolts.

Do check the jacking points for corrosion first.
I had to help a neighbour change a wheel recently, he had no tools at all.
An oldish Toyota. The jacking point and all around was just a mass of crunchy rust, had to put the jack under the suspension mount.
The wheel took two hours to shift, corroded in place.
I have some rubber 'pucks' with slots in them that engage the jacking point and sit in the cup of the trolley jack, that help spread the load and minimise any likely damage. Some tyre fitting places are less than careful how they jack cars up.
