Hopefully someone might be able to help with a couple of questions regarding the EAT6 gearbox and an issue that I am having with it. The gearbox code is 20GE13.
I have 2018 Allure S/S automatic petrol car (c 35k miles) that has recently developed an intermittent fault with the gearbox where it occasionally gets stuck in limp (3rd gear). The code on the ECU is P0715 which is referring to the input shaft speed sensor.
The code can be wiped and it will run normally for a day or 2 before coming back. It has been into Peugeot for a full diagnostic and they are saying that it probably requires a new Input shaft speed sensor, wiring and cover.
I have looked around on the internet to try to find out where the sensor is located but the information is very difficult to find. I suspect that it is behind the black panel on the front of the gearbox (with it still in the car). Could anyone with more knowledge confirm if this correct?
I have also been looking around for the sensor and I think that it costs something like £35 but I don't know how easy it is to change. I could take the battery and tray out to give better access to the panel and there appears to be a bit of space between the gearbox and the front end where I might be able to get the panel off but I'm assuming that there are actuators behind the panel.
I'm fairly handy with tools and have worked on cars before so I don't really want to pay Peugeot £1300 for the job if it is not too difficult to do. I could also get the sensor and get a local mechanic to change as it is likely to be cheaper than them.
They also found a P3061 code on the ECU due to a high number of self ignitions, I had them hold off on that as they want to do cylinder leakage tests and have indicated that the engine might be toast in the near future so probably not work spending the money on it.
Thanks for any help

Which Peugeot?
Which petrol engine?
Which petrol engine?

It's a Peugeot 2008 Allure S/S registered in 2018. The engine is 1.2 THP 110 81Kw
Thanks

Re: Input Shaft Speed Sensor issues
Here's the fault code descriptor:
The input speed sensor generally requires the hydraulic block to be removed to get to, which means an oil drain, so might be a dealer-level job unless you know your way around.
Have a look at this video - it's a Hyundai, but shows the input and output speed sensors for the 6 speed automatic on this vehicle:

Re: Input Shaft Speed Sensor issues
Hi Marc,
That's great thanks, I've watched the video previously and was hoping that the sensor wasn't in that location!
I'll see if the mechanic thinks he is capable and confident enough to get to the sensor
Thanks

Re: Input Shaft Speed Sensor issues
I can't say if that is the Aisin 6 speed gearbox or not in the video, as there are several variants (AM6 / AT6 / EAT6), so be aware.
