Gear linkage cable removal help..

Unread post by daveylt »

Hi,

Looking for a bit of help.

Car is citroen DS3 1.6 diesel.
Dsport 110hp on a 2010 plate.

Mount on top of gearbox for selector cables has sheared off.

My problem is I cannot figure out how to remove the outer sheath of cables from broken bracket.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

See picture for cables.
Gear selector cable.

You can't remove the sheaths, the cables and the gear control unit that the gearstick goes into is a complete unit as example shown below:

All you have to do though is unlock the cable stops (the orange parts in your picture), to allow the cables to be removed from their supports.

The supports are available separately.

Marc,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Could you please advise how I unlock the cable stops. Is it a case of rotating the orange sections, or do you have to do something with the black plastic things behind them.

Again thank you for taking the time to assist me. It is very much appreciated.

If you click on the image to magnify, it would seem you need to carefully press in the grey lugs showing through the orange part to allow the release - I can't really advise as I've never had to do this personally, but there's no special mention of any routine, so it should be an easy thing to do. Release the lugs by pushing in and gently remove or slide the parts to unlock them I suspect.

Hi, my bracket broke today in exactly the same place as yours. Did you ever figure out to remove the cables from the bracket, and where did you buy new bracket from?
