Best gasket sealer for sumps?

Best gasket sealer for sumps?

What do people recommend to use as a gasket sealer for a Peugeot sump? The stuff that came off was a white sealer type of stuff with no traditional cork or rubber gasket. I have read that people seem to use RTV but can not work out if the different colours have different properties or even if I need RTV and a simple 'instant gasket' stuff will do instead.

Loctite SI 5940 Black RTV. Superb stuff, used it for years. Granville also do a good one.

I totally agree with Steve, used it late last year on my C5 sump, very sticky stuff.
