Hi!
I am in the process of changing the rear wheel hub bearings on my C5 Mk2 2007.
The ABS sensor has been working fine, so I do not plan to change it. It is also stuck, the ABS holder's bolt head has corroded to a 7,5 mm near round bolt, and it seems tempting to let it stay when I try to remove the bearing. (According to the parts diagram, it is/was a 6x100 mm screw, with an 18 mm base)
How sensitive are the ABS sensors? I see from the forum that ABS sensor also has been damaged during removal. Is there any hope for a successful outcome if I leave the sensor in place, and succeed with removal of the hub bearing with a puller?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jon

Hi Jon
All I can tell you is that the ABS sensors are extremely sensitive and must be kept away from other metallic objects and not knocked or dropped to give you some idea - according to Citroen.
(2) Rear ABS Sensor, part: 4545A5 (no longer available from Citroen).
(3) Flanged Bolt (DIAM 6X100-18), part: 030713 (Still available from Citroen).
Although the sensor isn't available from Citroen any more, they are widely available online - one example:

As long as you do not start using big lump hammers (there should be no reason to) to remove the bearing, you should be OK. Clean area etc with brake cleaner and a NYLON brush to avoid damage.

Thanks a lot. It's great with such fast and enlightening answers. The stubborn screw is # 3 in the drawing...
I'll keep metal away, hold back on the hammering and cross my fingers!

If the worst comes to the worst, at least you know you can get both the ABS sensor and the bolt. The ABS sensor was only about £15 UK in that link, so won't break the bank.

The hub went off easily, apart from the fact that it split. So I'll go get me a "bearing splitter", I assume that can be helpful - and be gentle to the sensor.
