xsara picasso 2002 - rear door wont unlock

hello again!

latest problem with my xsara picasso 2002 is one of the rear passenger doors wont unlock.

outer and inner door levers have no effect.

central locking device making no noise on that door when car is locked or unlocked.

tried to get to lock by removing door trim but cannot find way to release the lock... not easy working blind!

does anyone know of a trick to release the lock?

If you have the door panel off try hitting the lock mechanism as you operate the central locking, this can sometimes jolt it free to get it open.
failing that its break the lock up with a hammer & big screwdriver. Make sure you have a new unit first.

p.s. thanks citroen for making a car with no manual door lock levers! not a problem with my berlingo, it had lock levers and central locking!

I use a hammer & thick long flat headed screwdriver (slightly sharpened at the end) & start attacking the plastic parts of the mechanism, you use the screwdriver like a chisel & just break it away until you can get at the internals. You just need to be very careful you dont slip & go through the door skin.

thanks, that wont be easy because i cannot really see the parts i need to chisel away. will have a look again tooday.

hi all. i manged to get the door unlocked.

i cut a 36mm hole with a hole cutter drill attatchment in the door (in a place the door panel will cover) which gave me a better view of what was in there.

i then managed to break and rip off the plastic cover that fits over the lock unit. then i just flipped the little lever that unlocked the lock.

the central locking is now unplugged on that door and i have disconnected the outside door lever so it can only be opened from the inside.

that will do for me, i will just reconnect the outside lever for the purposes of the 'itv' (mot test in spain).
