2010 Citroen C3 1.6 HDI - DPF and Eolys Fluid

Unread post by stevenh60 »

Hi All,

Joined here as I have just changed to a Citroen C3 Exclusive, love the car, had a few jobs this week done on it like all belts changed and engine flush/ service.

However, I am stumped on one thing. I am not sure whether it has a DPF system or not. Is there a definitive way I can tell, or anywhere I can post the VIN to double check. It's a September 2010 model, 1.6 HDI with 90hp power.

If it has a DPF, I understand it'll have an Eolys fluid bag. The C3 has just over 76k on it, is it worth getting it changed now, or should I just wait until the warning pops up, if it has a DPF? How much is it roughly to get done at an independent garage?

Many, many thanks for your help in advance.

Welcome

It's pretty easy to tell - check the tail pipe. If it has a DPF it will be pretty much spotless, if not it will be sooty. Some of the early 90 BHP were non DPF, but I'd have thought by 2010 it would have. Post up the VIN (it will auto hide) and we can check. I'd just wait till the light comes on for the fluid (assuming it has DPF!) - no point in wasting money filling it early.

Hi Richard,

Many thanks for your help! Great to know there's always help on hand, very impressed when reading this forum!

My VIN number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Should be a Grey Citroen C3 Exclusive 1.6 HDI registered September 2010.

Many Thanks

Steven :)

It's Euro 5 with DPF - it has an additive pouch, so I would wait till it asks to be filled, although keep an eye in the area of the tank - the bags can split and leak when they get a bit older.
