ESP/ABS STOP Engine repair needed. Walking mode?

Unread post by mitsub »

C5 (X7) 2012 1.6 HDi
Just sorted my sat/nav radio out and went for a test run. I had to pull up pretty quickly at a junction afterwards the car would hardly move, revving but staying in 1st (6 speed piloted manual gearbox). Used the paddles to change to 2nd gear which moved me so as to park up. Basically it showed up in the cluster as ESP/ABS STOP Engine fault: repair needed. The air-con has stopped working at the same time, it has no power, any slight incline 5mph. I have Diagbox but if I could be pointed in the direction as to where to look it would be appreciated.
Thanks

First thing is to do a global test and post up any codes you get here.

Yes, will do tomorrow, need to calm down. I’m not used to being stopped by the police for going too slow.

Hi,
Marc here is what I have done:

I took out the RT6 v2.86 and fitted the previous RNEG which cleared these faults.

The ESP/ABS I think need road testing which I'll do tomorrow.

My problem, as I see it, probably wrong, are the injectors. Can I and which one can I reset.

I checked with Diagbox first then done a BSI Reset. I need to go out on the road for the ESP/ABS. There are no faults in the cluster. The car starts fine will rev to 3k but I'm worried about No.4 injector. Its only three weeks ago Citroen replaced the clamp, seals on No.2 as leaking diesel. If there is any thing I should have included please let me know. You did advise me about v2.86 firmware and to be honest it went smoothly and was very pleased. Is it possible this firmware caused these problems? I'll look at the RT6 sometime later. Hope you can explain the injector list, I didn't click on any, just don't know what to do next.

I shouldn't worry about the Head Unit for now, but you would appear to have an issue with Injector 4

Fault Code: U1218
Description of Fault: Intersystems CAN : One of the parameters present in a datastream sent by the BSI is invalid. Faults in communication between ECUs on the CAN network.
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving for 5 minutes
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: -
Symptoms:
  • Jerking/stalling
  • Starting problem
  • Lack of power
Suspect Areas:
  • Engine ECU
  • Intersystem CAN network

Fault Code: P0271
Description of Fault: Injector 4 signal: Short circuit between two wires. Short circuit between the 2 tracks detected for 400 ms when injector 4 is controlled.
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving for 5 minutes
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Closing of the EGR (exhaust gas recycling) valve
  • Irreversible deactivation of the vehicle speed limiter
  • Irreversible deactivation of the vehicle cruise control
  • Deactivation of taking account of the tight spot information
  • Switching of the turbocharging pressure regulation to controlled mode
  • Cutting of fuel injector 4
  • Deactivation of the request for regeneration of the particle filter from the diagnostic tool
  • Deactivation of the "easy-move" (electric parking brake) functionality
  • For a gearbox with engine speed regulation (automatic gearbox or piloted manual gearbox), limitation of the torque sent to the gearbox
Symptoms:
  • Jerking/stalling
  • Engine acceleration at wrong time
  • Noise
  • Slightly higher fuel consumption
  • Starting problem
  • Smoke from the exhaust
  • Lack of power
Suspect Areas:
  • Fuel injector 4
  • Electrical harness
  • Connectors

Fault Code: U0140
Description of Fault: Intersystems CAN : Absence of communication with the BSI ECU. Faults in communication between ECUs on the CAN network.
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving for 5 minutes
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: -
Symptoms:
  • Jerking/stalling
  • Starting problem
  • Lack of power
Suspect Areas:
  • Engine ECU
  • Intersystem CAN network
