C3 PICASSO Fault Codes

Hello, I have a 2009 C3 Picasso petrol engine car with 2 fault codes and a engine fan issue.

P1337 which is a misfire on Cylinder 1

P0562 ECU Voltage supply low.

The car is running rough and the EML is on, so I think a coil pack is required.

The battery is charging at 14v and the same with headlights etc illuminated, and the car had a new alternator fitted 3 months ago.


The other issue is the engine fan runs continuously when the car is switched off, and needs the battery disconnecting to make it stop.

Are the 2 codes connected or are there 2 different faults in addition to the engine fan?

At no cost you can check the spark plugs and swap them around to see if the code changes. On some Citroens the cylinders are numbered from the gearbox end.
If you look at live data you can check the engine temperature sensor to see if it is giving a false high value putting the fan on.

I think it's all Citroens, Peugeots and DSes that number from the gearbox end. Vauxhall used to number from the crankshaft pulley end but I don't know what they do now they're part of Stellantis. Fiat, no idea at all.

Here's the additional info for you on those codes:

Fault Code:	P1337
Description of Fault:	Combustion misfiring on cylinder 1 fault: Not characterised. Ignition misfiring (Possibility of damage to the catalytic converter). Conditions of activation of the diagnostics - The following conditions have to be met: - Engine management ECU in main triggering phase - Engine speed above 500 rpm and below a threshold defined in the engine ECU - Torque below a threshold defined in the ECU - The crankshaft and the camshaft are synchronised
Conditions for Fault to clear:	Clearing is impossible (After a pre-defined driving cycle)
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:	Cutting out of cylinders (If the fault persists) Deactivation of richness regulation Deactivation of checking of the canister purge
Symptoms:	Starting impossible Starting difficult Unstable idling Idle speed too high Lack of power Engine hesitation Emissions outside the norms Excessive fuel consumption
Suspect Areas:	Sparking plugs Fuel injectors Electrical harness Engine ECU

Fault Code:	P0562
Description of Fault:	Battery voltage fault: Voltage too low - engine running. Detection of battery voltage too low, following the starting phase: Voltage between 2,54 and 9,99 V (For at least 2s). Conditions of activation of the diagnostics: - Detection of the fault 3 min after the end of starting in main triggering mode - Engine ECU in becoming dormant phase
Conditions for Fault to clear:	Voltage between 9,99 and 16 V (For more than 2 s)
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:	Purge canister permanently
Symptoms:	Starting impossible Starting difficult Engine hesitation
Suspect Areas:	Battery Engine ECU

Would you suspect the ECU is faulty if its a possible cause in both fault codes, rather than just a coil pack issue?

I'd say it needs further checks before replacing the engine ECU to be honest... The engine ECU is there as a suspect only because it has to be a possibility, but I would exhaust other checks first.

If this is a 1.4 petrol, mine did exactly the same thing, including the fan being on all the time.

Changing the coil pack on the faulty plug solved it all.
