Dear colleagues, on my wife's C4 B7 (2016) we can hear knocking while driving even on slightly uneven road. Today I found out it comes from the left steering rack end, which has a bit play and produces metallic knocks somewhere in the inside of the steering rack. It does not knock against the plastic bushing around the end of the rack. The car has only 60 000 km, the steering rack looks new, no oil leaks.
Are there any bushings inside the steering rack that can be replaced?
What all must be disassembled to replace the whole steering rack? Can it be done at home on ramps?
