Missus' C4 2l 16v 135 Petrol. Ever since I got this the warning would show intermittently. Checked it with the dipstick and it was always fine. It's on all the time now. No horrible noises, oil is in good condition, only done 4K miles since last oil and filter so guessing it may be a sensor? Does anyone know where it is and can it be checked with a multimeter?
Cheers.

Re: Check Oil Level warning
This used to be a big problem on Xantias Pete and it always seemed to be down to a quirk with some semi-synthetic oils...
Some oils did it and others didn't... Try a change of oil to a different brew and see what happens...

Re: Check Oil Level warning
Cheers Jim. I'm using 5W30 Total, same as in my HDI 90 in the Dispatch and in the 136 HDI in the 407. I buy by the 20 litre drum. It did it on the oil that was in it when I bought it. The car was Citroen main dealer serviced, although it was overdue a very full service which is why I got it so cheap.

I have a 2005 C4 2L EW10A petrol engine and the oil level sensor is located in the sump. Small sensor held in place by 1 screw with a green connector plug. It is on the drivers side right at the bottom of the sump. Easy to remove and replace but you will have to drain the oil obviously.

Re: Check Oil Level warning
Thanks very much Mouka. It was overdue an oil change when I got it so it may be gunged up. The oil that was drained was normal with no lumps. I'll change it next oil change.

Re: Check Oil Level warning
What you might want to consider doing is to dump some 'engine oil flush' fluid into the oil when you are about to do the oil change. This is designed to help break down any sludge that might be sticking inside the engine.

Good point. Used to be a pint of diesel back in the day.
