Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Citroen, DS Automobiles and Peugeot Official Part Number Requests
It's because of the materials used to make the filter. This is why there are cheaper versions and expensive versions - it's something you would generally only change once during the life of the vehicle. Most OEM filters are made of porous ceramics and silicon carbide.
There are smaller DPF cores and larger DPF cores. Where the DPF uses larger cores, they are made in segments and due to the high coefficient of linear expansion, a special cement is used to hold them together that allows them to expand. High pressure washers or bashing these about can damage the cement and ruin the DPF.
Some Audi, BMW and Volvo DPFs can be £2k....
So you may want to go for a deep clean first of all, bearing in mind the issue with pressure washing it I mentioned above. There are professional cleaners though that use a bath type system to clean and flush it.

I had great success with cleaning a DPF myself Ryan. You can read the story from the link below and if you do, then read through to the end to pick up all the information. As you will see it worked fine for me and the car did a further 22000 miles without trouble before it was sold.
