Xantia Steering

Post by tony42 »

I have slight play in the steering wheel. Feels to me as if its a bearing with some play in it. Is it normal to have some play in the steering, Seems to be when I push and pull it or is it something that needs repair.

No play/clearance is acceptable in steering on modern cars.
If you mean the steering wheel itself seems to be moving in the coloumn axle, then you have either worn or dislocated coloumn bushings.
Dislocated coloumn bushings is a common problem on BX'es, some Xantia's may have inherited this problem.
If steering itself has clearnace, you're facing a troubleshooting on the components connecting to wheels.
