engine number location

hi all, odd request.. to aid in my visual search later, can anyone tell me where the main engine number is typically stamped on HDI engines? in my case, an RHH163 used in Cits and Pugs from about 2010 I think.. (front, back, ends?)

the aluminium engine ID plate is too hard for me to read

My SerBox app is not letting me see diagrams for some reason,.

the lack of parts diags is annoying.. I have SB running in an emulator which is XP- as i understand it.. but when i hover over a part for a diagram I get a Java error.. any ideas how I can resolve this? maybe my XP java needs updating but it doesn't seem to want to

I think I have java (oracle) on it.. it that helps

If it's your engine serial number you need for your X7 John, then it's:

10 DYWT 4009151

"A" Vehicle’s VIN no. (The number is engraved on the body on the upper part of the wheelarch).
"B" After Sales / Replacement Parts identification label - Tyre information and pressures (Label on the front pillar on the driver’s door side).
"C" Vehicle manufacturer’s label (Label affixed to the base of the centre pillar) - On the right-hand side .
"D" Repeat of the vehicle VIN (Visible through the windscreen).
"E" Gearbox reference - production serial number.
"F" Engine legislative type - production serial number.

many thanks for replying Mark.. The engine was changed in the past, but the new engines Cam cover ally label is slightly illegible. I can read 5 out of the 7 digits .. I was hoping the same number would be stamped on the block.. I will have gander later on ramps with a torch, mirror etc

I cant see anything on the block, there is just too much in the way .. Marc, is there a way of back-referencing what I think the new engine number is ? doubtful I guess..
my guess is 4034 078 10DYWS PSA RH02

It think it came from a DS5, 2012 possibly.

Unfortunately I can't John as it's an engine serial number. But the PSA RH02 does bring up a 2.0 Hdi engine on the web like here:
