Xantia - weird ghost rev

Unread post by Jaf »

It's only happened a couple of times. Going along happily at about 80kph when it sounds like the engine is revving a bit harder. It's very quick, 2 secs, so not had chance to really see rev counter change but passenger couldn't hear anything.

Apart from that she's running well, not smoky. Bosch pump only couple of years old but does have an air leak as have to use prime bulb (probably the fuel filter whatsit, I had to glue it before). Doesn't feel like a fuel problem though, as she's revving more.

It's very weird!

Jaf, my first suspect would be air ingress, especially as you need to use the primer bulb...

Air ingress can do odd things and one big bubble of air in the fuel may have been enough to upset, possibly, the timing...

Nothing to be concerned about but do work to get those known air leaks sorted out as soon as you can ;)
