Hello everyone. I need help. I have a malfunction in the air conditioning system of my C5 1.6hdi. Pressing the AC button turns on the light but does not activate the AC compressor. in this case the electric clutch. I checked the clutch making the direct connection of the battery and it works. I checked with a multimeter the plug that feeds and does not have the necessary voltage to work. I would ask for help so that they can present me the electrical scheme of the AC or if you have any more suggestions send me please.

The compressor will disengage if the gas is low amongst other faults. It is a safety feature to protect the compressor if there is little or no gas in the system.
Before you start ripping everything out, check the obvious things like leaks. It's easy for a stone chip to puncture the condenser radiator (which is very fragile) or for there to be a leak in a pipe. I would get it to a garage that has the correct testing and re-gassing equipment. They should be able to test the system for leaks and check the gas and oil levels.

The engine ECU will also disable the compressor if some abnormal conditions are detected, you really need to get the fault codes read.

Hello everybody.
I already have the situation resolved. there was no gas pressure in the air conditioning circuit.
New gas was loaded and it works normally now.
Thanks for the help.

Be prepared for the system to fail again. While slow leaks over a long time are "tolerated" it's not the way the system is designed!Tiagovp wrote: 17 May 2023, 11:35 there was no gas pressure in the air conditioning circuit.

The cost of tracking down and fixing the leak Vs just re-gassing the system constantly over time can sometimes be the same. But which of those is the right thing to do?
If it stops working again you'll know why.

My car it´s from 2009 and I bought at 3 years ago with 79.000 Klm´s. I presume that in these 14 years never took a gas refill.
The summer is comming and I hope he can handle it.

Is it easy to replace the condenser (i.e. without having to remove bumper etc)?

After vacuuming out the A/C system first (essential), the bumper and cooling radiator need to be removed. Then the A/C pipes have to be removed and the outlets plugged to avoid humidity getting into the circuit.

Re: Air Conditionar Fail C5 X7 1.6
It has been vacuumed. I was hoping it could be pulled out from the top as the cooling radiator can be pushed back towards the engine leaving a gap for the condensed to be pulled out.

Re: Air Conditionar Fail C5 X7 1.6
It was a pain but managed to replace it without having to remove the cooling radiator. Interestingly the leak on the the old condenser was at the radiator side and not the front side which is the exposed side (that's probably why they couldn't see the leak).
