Peugeot expert no 5th or 6th gear
I was driving home and had a slow driver in front of me and got a little impatient. I went to go for 3rd but ended up in 1st which travelling at 30mhp wasn't great so quickly found 3rd and overtook. Now I have no 5th or 6th gear it's like they don't even exist I was definitely very heavy handed lol. So when I go for 5th I'm getting 3rd and when I go for 6th I'm getting 4th. I've had the gaiter off and everything looks fine at that end and from what I can see everything looks OK from the gearbox end. I have no crunching noises or any noise to suggest anything is broken all other gears work fine. Any ideas on what it could be?

It's like the gear stick can't reach far enough to grab 5th or 6th

Re: Peugeot expert no 5th or 6th gear
This probably means the fifth and sixth gear engagement fork is broken. This will necessitate replacement of the fifth/sixth gear synchroniser, fifth gear pinion, the sixth gear pinion and the forks assembly. So it's a gearbox out job and the labour will be the killer.
This being the case, the book time is about 9.5 hours, but it will still need taking out to check in any case for the exact damage.
This is based on the MB6 gearbox that I have fitted to my C3 Aircross. I've nearly done this myself 7 months ago changing down gears straight from 6th to third on a dual carriageway and hit first instead, luckily not to hard and apart from the jolt, disengaged pretty quickly and no damage (I hope).
They have developed a new fifth and sixth gear engagement fork from October 2020.
I imagine something similar has happened in your case on the older gearbox, so I can't be sure, but where there is 'difficulty' engaging fifth or sixth gear, this is the solution on the 6-speed fitted to my vehicle and others.

I think I have found the problem the smaller round circle piece has snapped the the mounting clip if that makes sence

That's a lot better news if it's the cables. They don't sell those specific parts separately, so would likely have to be a new cable set, but better than a gearbox overhaul.

Re: Peugeot expert no 5th or 6th gear
Correct me if I'm wrong lol but am i right in thinking the black cable is for forwards and backwards and the white one is for left and right. If that is correct then am I right in thinking the that if that piece has snapped off that would not give the full range needed to get to 5th and 6th. Obviously I know it's not needed for 3rd and 4th and I don't think the cable needs the full range to get into 1st or 2nd
